That's more like it. Fisichella really deserves to be awarded as the winner of the race. It hasn't been decided by the FIA yet. They will meet on 11 April to discuss it.
I knew it, I always tape the races and was watching and it was very hard to spot since they didn't show the finish line section, only that fisichella had passed raikkonen.
Kind of sad for raikkonen but very cool for fizzy and Jordan (their 200th grand prix) and kind of deserved since fizzy passed raikkonen fair and swuare at race pace. It's also McLarens own fault, if they would have pulled raikkonen in for a pitstop at the start of the safety car period instead of DC the others would have had a hard time to catch him up.
.. and of course, it's good for Schu.. hehehe less points for Raikkonen & McLaren.
I also taped it. We kept looking at it & were sure that Fizzy should have been declared the winner & were surprised when he wasn't. Even though we're McLaren fans we thought that Jordan deserved the win after that overtaking manuevre, so assumed that the race controllers knew more about it than we did & that we were just being stupid. Looks like it's them that are stupid at the end of the day. As was said above, how can they get it so wrong with all the information at their fingertips? Or is it that the race computers are running Win95? :smash:
Even though I hate to see Ferrari win ;) I think Barrichelo should have won, he was flying round that track when in the lead. And then his Ferrari just stopped? Why do those reliability "issues" always seem to be with his car & not "the other one"?
It's great to see that Jordan have won a race again after all this time, but what a farce that they weren't on the top of the podium to collect the trophy. And it's a bummer for Raikkonen. So what do they do now? Knock on Kimi's door & politely say "Can we have our trophy back please, mister?"

No, they just gave in to pressure from the corporate geeks to "upgrade" to Windows 2000. And now they're still trying to get it to boot up... :banghead:
Hi Paul! Xmas is coming! Looks like Santa Claus will be driving a postal truck in your neighborhood soon! :D
I agree, Paul. Barichello was on a tear. He was clearly faster than anyone else at the time. That is one complaint I have about F1, the cars are too fragile. So many times Montoya looks like he's going to make things interesting for Schumi or whom ever and he has a failure. I would just like to see all the heavy weights run strong the entire race and actually RACE. It's almost like (in a fair fight) if a car is faster than Schumacher they have a problem that takes them out. I want to see a 6-way fight or at least a 3-way battle with Williams, Ferrari and McLaren on the track.
Gator! :seeya
Thanks mate!
Give it a week or 2 & start checking your mailbox, there's some goodies about to leave here for you :) Hopefully it'll be routed to you avoiding the Denver area: if Lars & his CCC buddies get a whiff of it then you'll never get to see it  I was hoping to get it sent to you 2 or 3 weeks ago but I had a few "technical issues" with it ;)
Burners,
Well said. I keep watching races hoping for that to happen ie. a real race, but the darn things keep breaking when it starts getting good. If they junked a lot of the expensive electronics (which might also help the other teams compete a bit better) then reliablilty may improve.
I remember when there were cars racing properly & the media were complaining about it eg when Damon Hill was racing MS the press & commentators at the time were saying that he should really let MS past as the Ferrari was clearly a lot faster! That was a great race to watch as somebody was finally making MS battle for every inch rather than the normal approach of trying to hold him up for a few corners. More spirit in the drivers is needed. That's whyKimi has had such a good effect. Hopefully Williams, Jag & Jordan can get their cars more reliable as the likes of Montoya, Webber & Fizzy have the potential to stay with the usual front runners.
One thing nobody has mentioned is the difference when watching it live rather than on TV. The sound is incredible. Those quiet little pops you occasionally hear on TV are extremely loud exhaust crackles on shut down &, although they all scream, the McLarens have got a really deep growling bestial snarl to the exhausts (almost as nice as my Vettes exhaust ;) ).
I hope it gets back to being the spectacle that it used to be, I doubt it, but it's a nice thought :)

I got inside source @ Ferrari who says Barichello ran out of fuel, due his rodio went bust and on the straight where they show all the signs when to pit etc it was so bumby that he couldn't read them and that's why he had to retire from the race. :yesnod:
Re: is formula 1 fun again or what (Graemeinvette)
I remember Rene Arnoux and Gilles Villeneuve banging wheels as they went side by side for most of the lap, ah happy days
i remember watching stewart , fittipaldi and co. racing around the old nuerburgring, flying trough the air, took about 7 minutes to comlpete a lap :steering: :steering:

That's what I heard too, Barrichello was also busy overtaking DC, combined w/ the soup in the sky.. he missed the sign. :(
Results being changed again and again is not good for F1 reputation... Even though the races are more intresting this season these other things might harm the reputation.
Even though I'm finnish I agree that the victory belongs to Fisichella. And after all according to new rules it's only two points away from Kimi and McLaren... On the other hand 53 laps was below 75% limit and it could have ment that points would have been splitted. In that case win gives 5 points and second place 4 points. Now that they drove (officially) 54 laps it's over 75% limit and points are given as normally and second place gives 8 points... If this is applied then Kimi and McLaren will get 3 points more from the second place than from the win with splitted points...
:leaving:
Too bad for Barrichello if he really run out of fuel... He was running a really good race...
