Default Commander 950 height question.

Okay, the fuel injection project has moved into phase one... the raising of the funds and confirming of the facts.

So far, the only Commander 950 people I've found by searching the forum are big block guys.

Anyone have height info for the small block version of the Commander 950 kit? (summit part #HLY-91003101)

I plan on installing this system in the next few weeks and I have made some measurements to see how things will clear. It looks as though the stock air cleaner will fit under the hood. It's close but I think it will clear. I'll have more details in a little while (maybe two weeks). I measured from a reference point on the intake to the top edge on the air cleaner and found it to be 9.25 inches. Both the stock system and Holley's measured within about .25 inches of each other.

I have the Holley 950 MPFI, and I measured from the base of the manifold to the throttle body air cleaner flange and it was 7-5/8". The stock setup on my 81' was 7-1/8". To the top of the stock air cleaner was 10-3/4". Subtracting 10-3/4" from 7-5/8" would leave enough room for at least a 3" air cleaner without a drop base on my stock hood. I did this with the engine out of the car, so I'll have to wait until I get everything back together before I can say absolutely it will fit under my hood.

mark

I sent my throttle body off to the guys at Bow Tie Overdrives so they could make a TV cable system for the 700R4's to use with the Holley TB injection.
Last I looked at it, it seemed shorter than my QJet.

Can anyone measure a QJet from intake mounting to air cleaner mounting ?

EDIT: -- crud -- your talking about the MPI system, and not about the TB system --- right ?

Mark, thank you very much. Those numbers sound like it will definately fit under my hood.

BSeery, yeah, I'm talking about the MPI setup. I forgot to mention that. :bb I do have the quadrajet measurement though... 3 1/4" from base to air cleaner base.
