I'm not sure about a 77, but here is how I did it in my 78. First you disconnect the speedometer cable up under the dash, then you have to take the two bolts out of the clamp that holds the steering column up (looks like a 'u' clamp under the steering column) and lower the steering column, next you remove the screws that hold the tach and speedo lens and remove the lens. Then you remove the allen screws that hold the tach and speedo and gently pull them out. The 78's have an electronic tach, so now you have to disconnect the plug to the tach and now you can pull the instrument panel the rest of the way out and change all of the light bulbs...including the high beam indicator. Again, I'm not sure how much of this applies to your 77, good luck

believe it or not it's really not bad. I avoided it for years until I had to replace the printed circuit board for my tach. After I did the job I could have kicked myself for not doing it sooner. You can have everything out in a half hour

I just did this last weekend. Pull the top dash pad (of course the a-pillar and t-top trim panels need to be removed first). Then reach around to the back of the speedometer. You'll feel the back of the bulb holder. Of course, it's just behind where the high beam indicator is. Pull on it, pop out the old, stick in the new. Put it back together.

If you're only replacing the high beam indicator, I wouldn't bother dropping the column, and the rest. It's easier from the top. Then again, you might want to replace all the bulbs, while you're in there. Not a bad idea...

Would like to meet the brain surgeons that designed the C3 so you have to tear your car half apart to replace a burnt out bulb, my dash lights have not been working for 5 years :mad
