I plan to replace the rear disc brakes, lines, hardware, etc.. with a kit from Ecklers. While I am at it, I'm going to replace all E-brake components with the stainless kit.
How hard are the e-brakes to change out? I've never worked on a disc/drum system like this before. My experience has been with drum brakes, and the e-brake components on those systems are not too bad.
Do a search on 'parking brake' and 'p brake'. This will give you many hits. I went thru this last fall/winter. I had frayed cables and no internals on the rear discs so it was a total redo/installation. I posted many questions and also a lot of how-to's and answers. Feel free to email me or post further questions here on the forum if the search doesn't answer all your questions.
If you're doing your rear wheel bearings, then it's a snap. Otherwise you'll have to work around the spindle. That doesn't make it an impossible job, but it does make it a bit more difficult to see exactly how it's put together if you've never done it before.
