Re: Need some advice on a vert conversion (REDSHARKONBOYDS)
I haven't done it, but I think that it would be easier and perhaps cheaper
to look for a 'vert rear clip - then replace yours with it.
Keep an eye in the parts section, as they do pop up now and then.
Re: Need some advice on a vert conversion (Tv Commercial)
Seems to me there were (or still are) a couple of places down there who were doing the 'vert late C-3 conversions.........one in your neck of the woods, and one in La.
I know a guy who does them up here, and he says there is a deck panel available that fits the 78-82 gas tank opening. He also says that ALL C-3's already have the pockets for the top bows. There have been lots of posts on here about the conversion....try the archives here, too.
Good luck!

Re: Need some advice on a vert conversion (Tv Commercial)
Not sure if I can help Tv Commercial, but the vette I have was converted in '89 to a vert. The car came out of Canada and the guy that had it done had the entire rear clip removed and exchanged it out with a GM vert rear. He also removed the windshield and cut/spliced in a vert top windshield frame. From what I gather you can convert the top of the windshield without going the route he did and there are rear decks from aftermarket suppliers that can be spliced/fiberglassed in without replacing the whole rear clip. The only reason I think he did it was because the frame was completely gone, so while he replaced that he went the conversion route.
Again... probably not help, but that's the way this one was done.

I see you found ACI before I could post the link. I'm doing a body off right now, and was think of this conversion as well. If you have already talked with ACI about your project let me know what you've found out. Thanks!
