Just sold my last toy and have started looking for my first corvette. I've narrowed my search to 72-75's due to budget. Just a few basic questions to start...What are folks opinions on dealer vs owner sold cars, how well do corvettes handle being transported? (last toy arrived with cracked windshield from being tied down too tight!) Any dealers to stay away from? That's all for now. Thanks in advance, judging from the quick responses I've seen on this forum, I'm looking forward to the advice.

Depending on what you like best, I would stick to a C3, just my feelings! There are a lot of good ones out there for that price. Ive found in my area that it is much better to but one from a private owner, that is, if you know what your looking at. I know of one real nice orange 75 in this area for sale now for 10,500. I belong to the original corvette club of St. Louis and these are always popping up.........LT
Thanks, I've been watching the ads for some time now and I think if I'm patient I can find a nice 72-73 coupe or a 74-75 vert for what I want to spend. Realistically it should be immediately driveable, cosmetically presentable, and something I can upgrade over time.
Don't forget to look in the C3 Cars For Sale section!

That is a great idea. You can check the seller's list of posts to see what kinds of things they've been talking about and verify that the work or maintenance has been done! You should be able to get something decent for the amount of money you want to spend.

That is a good point - unless they are selling their 73 with their first post  .
I would look for a sale from an active forum member - for some peace of mind.
Also, try to recruit experienced members to ride shotgun during your inspection.
Occasionally, I have been offered GREAT deals on unfinished projects that
forum members just can't continue. If you're not afraid to take on some work
right away, these can save you BIG bucks.
