Default Those with C4 seats in their C3, PLEASE HELP!

Okay, don't get this whole thing here. I thought the C4 seats were supposed to bolt right up? I took the old seat tracks off my 76 seats, and NOTHING lines up with the wholes in the bottom of the 86 seat. So, now what? My seat tracks are shot, so I'm going to have to source some new ones, but can someone please explain this to me like a 9 year old kid. I am really excited to get my seats in! Thanks in advance, Rob.

They don't just bolt in. You have to create a hybrid C4/C3 track. Here's what I did:

The C4 has U-shaped pieces of metal where the seat bolts to. I cut these off the C4 track. For the front a welded them on the C3 track. For the rear, in order tolower the seat some, I only welded the piece with the nut to the C3 track.

Bolt right up? Bwhahahahaha.

Just did this last week. You need a 8-10mm spacer to sit the seats high enough to clear the C3 adjustment lever. I used 2 x 5mm flat steel welded together as I had nothing else.

Where the bolt holes are on the C4 seats you will notice either a "P" or "D" next to the hole. I assume this is for passenger and driver sides. You need to use 1 "D" and 1 "P" hole to get the width. Err on the outer side when drilling the hole as you may need to elongate it a bit. From memory the width of the C3 track is 15 1/2 inches bolt hole to bolt hole. I bolted the front of the C4 seats to the front of the C3 track and welded the spacers on.

For the back the holes are a couple of inches from the end of the C3 tracks. There is an elongated hole on an angle - use that hole and create a hole on the other side. I made up an "L" shaped adapter and bolted it to the hole at the very end of the C3 rail.

Tighten and trial fit. Weld the rear spacers onto the track only when satisfied you got it pretty right. I had to elongate the hole to get the bolt in the floor on one of the seats. It's a good fit. Don't forget to grease the tracks - mine were pretty dry.

I typed this from memory but I think I covered it all.
