Today is the day. I have worked out the throttle/TV cable hookup timing issues. BTO supplied the TV made easy brackets but they did not have one to fit my Holley so I worked with them and designed one. I used the cable-mounting bracket they supplied. It is a plate that mounts between the carb and manifold. With the motor on the engine stand and the trans on my workbench I was able to set the proper stroke of throttle movement and control valve movement . Some adjusting may be needed to get the proper shift points so I designed a way to do it into the bracket.
Drive shaft universals have been installed. I hope to get the trans in and shift cable-timing setup. I have attached the new shifter detent plate so this should not take long. The neutral safety switch timing is off. The back-up light will be on in neutral if I don’t fix it some how. I hope to have the motor back in by next weekend.

Re: 200R4 trans install update (redwingvette)
Sounds like you are having fun. Keep up the good work. Today it is supposed to be 75 degrees here. Spring is upon us, we gotta get out there and drive these things. Good luck, I hope you are out and about by next weekend.
redwingvette, are you installing toggle switches to have full controll of when and when not the convertor locks up. At least one to overide the automatic 4th gear lockup? It works good and enables you to cruise at lower speeds in 4th without bog of locked vertor. With the vertor unlocked, i can roll along at 30mph in 4th with no problem. I usually dont lock up unless traveling a steady 50 or above. Without this overide controll, youll be forced to pull the shifter into 3rd to prevent lugging at lower speeds.
MY tranny is a 700, capable of locking in 2-3-4 gears, not first of course....
and so my cruise control on off sw also controls the verter lock having any voltage on it at all, along with a brake sw actuated relay, so therefore the ground side of the solenoid through the appropriate switches in the tranny, is now capable of being selected by a SPDT switch to either be allways locked, when the internal valve body switches want it to, AND/OR, computer selected, which is no lockup untill 50 mph is done....then it's no matter what gear, again....
this gives me total controll for any driving situation .....in town just noodling in traffic, I put it on computer controll and let it do it's thing, maybe keep it in 3rd gear sometimes....when I want t good blast of a freeway ramp say...I put it into lockup all the time and thrid gear, and then it slams 4th while locked...nice bump....
What a day. Things whent well for the most part. Trans is in place with cooling lines and shifter cable hooked up. Things are a little tite aroud the trans pan and stock exhaust. The drive shaft is bolted up and the pressusre gage for the test run is in place. Im not sure if the dipstick tube is going to work without some bending.
Jvette, Yes I am going to hook up the switch for the lock-up converter. I did see where someone has a vacuum operated switch that would do it automaticly but I wil stay with what I have for now. I have to make a bracket for the cable that comes down from the steering column if I want the lock-out to work. Shouldn't be to difficult.
Brian,
I had hours of joy installing my filler tube! The shape of the tube was OK but the mounting tab didn't quite line up with the bolt hole in the tranny case.
Tip for anybody doing a 2004r installation: make sure that the filler tube mounting tab lines up before fitting the tranny in the car. It's a headache trying to sort out afterwards :(
What flex plate cover are you using?
I seen that the tube doesn't match up with the holes so I am rebending it. I Im bending it to give me alittle more room in the tunnel as well. They sent me a plastic cover for the flex plate. Is there a better one?

Well worth doing. It took me over 5 hours to get the bolt in because I'd forgotten the simple check of making sure that the tube lined up OK :(
I don't know if there's a better cover. Mine seems to hit the lower edge of the flex plate. From what I can tell there seems to be 2 sizes of flex plate. The cover appears to be for the smaller one & I've got the larger one. As I've got a wooden plinth holding my tranny up at the moment it's hard to see what's needed, but I should be picking up my x-member today so I'll be able to get a better look at it all once everything is bolted in place. I'm hoping that a simple spacer between the tranny case & cover will solve the problem.

When I did my swap from th400 to 2004r, BTO sent me a plastic inspection cover. It didnt fit and I sent it back. My original steel one wouldnt bolt right up either. I suppose I coulda fussed with it and made somethin work. I just dropped the idea and to date I still have no inspection cover. I doubt theres any real drawback from no cover. Im also living without the park lock mechinism. I know its a a saftey issue and I pointed that out to BTO and they said they're workin on it. Without that working, a kid without the key, could open the door if left unlocked, get inside, release the parking brake, and pull the shifter outa park. Get the picture? Its easy to live without it but it could be dangerous.
I don't think that dumb plastic inspection cover fits for anybody! I ended up bashing up and grinding down my TH350 cover until it fit. :smash: Even then it caused a problem at first -- it interfered with the pan gasket and caused one of the MANY leaks I initially had (now I'm down to only 1 or 2)...
