I think I remember seeing something somewhere that Jackobs does. An HEI With a mechanical drive tach.
I don't know where you can find them..but I think they make them.

I have the HEI tach drive distributor, paid $499. havent had a chance to run it yet as i am in the middle of a drivetrain swap. i looked at both teh MSD and the HEI because i wanted to get away from points. my final decision was that if the HEI failed you could swap the module on the side of the road, vs. the MSD box failing, unless you have another one with you you are stuck.
