Couldn't Break 11s...
Dont take it too hard. Twelves are nothing to be ashamed of. I am sure that you whipped the tails of many other people at the track that day. And at the end of the day you drove your car back while other were loading theirs onto trailers. My vette is actually very similar to yours now that you have a big block in it. I have a 454 with hp somehwere between 500-550. I will hopefully be going to the track on tuesday. I will let you know what I ran. I am hoping that it will be about the same comparibly, though not quite as fast because I won't be running on any type of slick. Well, it all takes time and money doesn't it?
If the elevens still want to be your ultimate goal, remmeber that there is always the supercharge option or you could turn to Fuel Injection for the extra boost in legitimate HP. I consider Nitrous oxide to be cheating in a way, but it still works none the less...

I haven't seen you around lately stranger. I'm still worried about breaking stuff. The power transfer is pretty violent with a 4 speed tranny, I would feel more comfortable with an automatic. I'm still kicking myself for that last pass. It had the makings of a fast run had I given it more gas off the line. When the motor bogged from hooking so hard and the front end came down it killed my chances of a fast run :( . Any other suggestions Aaron? I know you've ran slicks in the past.
Captain Morgan:
Thanks for the information, I'm going to go to Advance Auto and see if they carry a similar model. I think I have some power to gain by tinkering with my timing. Not to mention running race fuel with some more advance.
Mike:
I hope so. It's really frusterating having the power at your disposal and not being able to drive worth a darn :D . I'm still considering going with an automatic. I see a lot of the slick cars (I run in the street division) running very close times to what I'm running....and they are all running automatics.
Dudeskie:
Low 12s isn't bad, but the car is capable of much better that is what frustrates me. I would imagine you will run about the same if not better because you are running an automatic. I'm going for the naturally aspirated approach. It's fun to see what you can do on all motor. Let me know how you do.

Real Vette's have 3 functional pedals!!!
No Robomatics!! Sure they're easier to drive, easier on parts, easier to get to hook up, easier to..........
But hey, there is nothing that gets me to stand up and watch someone make a run than to hear a stick car doing a burnout and then pulling to the line!
Anyone can do it with "remote control"...it takes skill to pull it off with a stick!!!
Ok let the flames begin!!!

What gears do you run? 3.90s or 4.10s would help some on those launches.. I run 3.36s and get 1.80 60s running 275 Nittos... I think If I had 3.90s I could launch at higher RPMs.
Honestly, I think I just typed that to see if people actually read what I write  . I really can't see myself changing to an automatic. Bangin' through the gears going down the 1/4 is just way too much fun. The one day I was at the track last year and my buddy told me that the announcer yelled over the loud speaker "there goes that shiftin' Stingray!" :D .
I always like to tease the automatic guys when I hear their time slips are better than mine. My response is usually "yeah well some of us have to hit a clutch pedal every time we shift ;) ."
By the way Jim, I went to Advance Auto TODAY and picked up an Actron Advance Timing Analyzer. Should be nice to finally know what my timing is set at. :D
Clink:
I'm running a Borg Warner Super T10 4 speed (which has held up very nicely to my surprise *knock on wood*) with 4.11 gears out back. They should ET way better than my old 3.36s...I just need to get used to the slicks.
Aaron:
If I did go the automatic route I would go with a TH350. I notice a lot of guys on here run TH400s. I bet a lot of them don't know that you lose more power through a TH400 than a TH350. A TH350 can be built up very tough too. For some reason I get the feeling that whenever the T10 decides to bite the big one I'll be going with a close ratio Muncie 4 speed.
