I had a lot of ignition type interference to my radio, so I bought and installed an MSD supressor that wires to the 6A unit box. When I started the 72 the radio sound was nice and clear. I figured I had the problem solved. But when I put the air cleaner back on, the interference was back. Take the air cleaner off, and the radio sounds ok.
Now what? Carbon fiber air cleaner? There has to be a reasonable answer.
I have seen this on some other cars ,they run a braded wire from the wing nut on the breather to a ground on the engine block. You may have seen something like this on cars that have a flexable piece of metal that hangs down from there hoods that make contact with the air cleaner when the hood is closed. You cannot use that type on a vette because they are fiberglass Dave :seeya
Re: Radio interference, this is odd (74BBcherryred)
 I grounded the air cleaner lids with some jumper wire to test out. It worked   At least 90% of the noise went away. Now I'll make up something permanent. Thanks
I'm having the same rfi problem, will try grounding the air cleaner and then buy a MSD noise suppression unit as well. Have the same plugs and 6AL unit. When the engine is not running the radio and cd are fine but soon as I start the engine, I can't even listen to the stereo.
