Right up until the time it was taken to the body shop mine was going to sprayed black as I really didn't like the blue. At the very last minute I changed my mind to spray it the original Med. Blue. Now it's grown on me in a big way.
Why be common? Having the same thing as everyone else is great... if you think going along with the crowd is a Good Thing.
Orange Forever!
Would it surprise you to find that orange is one of the most common colors (top one or two, while red is always at the bottom) in the years it was offered?
I know of at least three orange C3's that started life orange and were repainted other colors (in my club alone!), so the way I see it, the orange cars that stayed orange are that much more special. :chevy
I do keep my eye out for the mythical "Corvette Chartreuse" '77... now *that* was truly a one of a kind car!
Than mine went to green and gold (not my doing). Paint is now stripped off and ready for new paint still a toss up on which one either Millie Miglia Red or Yellow. :flag :flag
Mine was originally CLASSIC WHITE.
I repainted two years ago to GM's Diamond White Pearl.
I like it, and an updated White is just what it needed.
Although, when and if I ever repaint again, the colors changing to....
BLACK, TOURCH RED or that new dark YELLOW seen on smaller GM cars.
In 1972 Ontario Orange was the most popular color....followed by Elkhart Green. Mile Miglia was a distant 6th....
I also know of several Ontario Orange vettes that have been repainted to the "classic" vette colors -- red, black, white -- but I'm glad the original owner kept my car the original color.
My 72 is Steel Cities Grey, it's the original colour which suprisingly was just behind red as far as popularity for 1972 only 132 less cars painted that colour that year. By the way red was the sixth most popular colour tha year behind 1. Ontario Orange 2. Elkhart Green 3. Targa Blue 4. Classic White. 5. War Bonnet Yellow 6. Mille Migila Red 7. Steel Cities Grey 8. Bryar Blue 9. Sunflower Yellow 10. Pewter silver. I must like the colour since i've owned the car going on 28 years and haven't changed it of course it it does have a RED interior.
