You know I generally try to be a courteous driver to everyone. But this takes the cake I actually stopped traffic yesterday to let a woman in a C5 across a lane of oncoming traffic. I was in my C3 and thought she would have at least gestured Thankyou but KNOOOOOOOOW the snobby B*&!% would'nt even raise her hand. I guess if I would have shot her the finger instead of letting her across I might have go a reaction out of her.
I guess all C3 drivers treat everybody like they would like to be treated!!!

I feel better now, IETEK :mad
I'm sure that she was driving her husbands car and has no idea of the Corvette Etiquette!!! :seeya
You know how some women are. They think they'll get raped, mugged and left for dead if they smile at men. I'll wave a hand in thanks even when I merge into someone's lane ahead of them. If someone doesn't acknowledge my courtesy of letting them in, I just say frick em. I'm not gonna let their attitude determine mine.
I have only encountered one crusty vette owner. The only other owner in my college town with a black L-82. I saw her the other day in the Wal-Mart parking lot (yes that is the place to be in my college town, that is how small it is). I gave her the wave and she barely responded with a smile. Ya know the smile that you get when people are confused why they get these waves all the time :chevy . People need to be aware of the corvette etiquette.
There are about 9 other Corvettes in my town, 4 (including mine) C3's, 3 C4's and about two C5's. There might be more hiding under rocks or behind bushes somewhere. ALl of the C3 owners besides the one monetioned above go allout for the etiquette. I drove by one guy in a brown C3. We gave each other a big hearty wave where our T-tops would have been, but were not because it was a beautiful day. The friendliest corvette drivers I have encountered so far are teh C3 drivers. The C5ers in my town kinda have some sort of superiority complex going on because I only get a finger raise from them.
I am still having fun though and that is all that matters in the end :hat :troll :jester
I find that it's the women in C4s that are least likely to gesture at another Corvette. And I hate to be sexist, but it's pure marketing demographics and psychographics proven by a number of research studies: women are less likely to "pay attention" to anything out of the direct driving interaction. This means that aside from the required decision making, women tend to notice less and interact less when they are driving.
So whereas a male will think: "There's another Corvette, I'll wave."
Probabilities state that a woman in the same situation will only wave if they wave at EVERY car in that situation. (Like my wife, who waves whenever someone lets her merge in.)
The other day I had a good experience. I was at the gas station and I didnt notice a c5 pull up to a pump on the other side of the station. The guy walked up to me and wanted to see my car. He looked under the hood and at the interior and was very nice and gave lots of complements, even though my vette still needs allot of fixing inside and out. After that we went over to his car and I got to check it out, it was a nice red vert (01 or 02 I think). He did not know about this forum so told him and he said he would check it out. He was a cool guy.
I've had one BAD encounter with a C4 driver. I was filling up my 74 a year or so ago. And a guy with a polo green C4 was parking up front as I was walking upto the store. He got out and I said "hey, that's a nice Vette"..And he goes "Yeah, like you'd ever know what it's like"..I was like f**k you dude...Never mind my 74 is less than 15 ft from you and could give you a run for your money...bastards...
I am seeing a lot of "swap a C5 for a C3" adds lately.
Never seem to see a "swap a C3 for a C5" add.
This is because:
1. You don't just own a C3 ( you got to love them to spend so much time working on them)
2. C5s look like a cross between a Mitsubishi/Porsche/Ferrari, C3s are a shape on there own.
3. Everyone complements a C3 even if it needs some work.
4. If it lasted 30 years it will probably outlast all the C5s anyway!
5. A C3 will probably appreciate in value as fast as C5s are depreciating in value.
Well theres my ramble. Now I have to go go out into the garage and bolt all the suspension back on @#$$%$....Love the C3...Live the C3.....Be the C3
seeya
By the way 70% of our club are C5 owners and would have to be the friendliest bunch of folks I have ever met (did i mention most of them own a C3 and C2 as well :-) )
Save the wave.

I think it has less to do with the generation of Corvette they own, and more to do with the type of people they are. I have seen buttheads that own every generation Corvette, and also "car guys" who own every generation. Yes, even some C5 owners bore, stroke, supercharge, and run nitrous on their cars, and some of them do most of the work themselves. The C4 guy in the post above is obviously not a Corvette person. All the real Vetteheads I know like all of the generations, or at least have enough respect to not insult the owner.
I find only very few C-5 owners know anything about corvette traditional friendliness?
Maybe I am jaded because of the forum presence at the Cruise Ins and the Labor Day NCM events. All of those guys showed great respect for the older Vettes and gravitated to them to look when a hood was popped.
I just take that stuff in stride. The other day I was so busy messing with my new CD Stereo a Vette passed me and I didnt have time to wave but I saw his hand as I went by so he probably thought I was an idiot. So maybe she was having a bad day! Who knows :flag
