Project Update: Stereo Done!!

A quick recap of what I put in.
4" 2-way mb Quart speakers in the front
6x9 3-way Alpine speakers in the back
Pioneer DEH-640P deck
Pioneer GM-X524 amp in the back
Bazooka EL1004 sub
I redid all the wiring and ran 14 gauge speaker wires to all speakers, and 8 gauge to the amp. The front speakers run off 2 channels of the amp, and the sub runs off the other 2 channels bridged. The rear speakers run off the deck.
The front speakers are mounted in the stock locations.
I made the rear mounts from the plans in the tech section from the forum, and they turned out quite well. I managed to find felt to cover the mounts that was a real close match to the carpet in the car, and it was quite cheap as well.
The amp is mounted on the rear wall. That was a bit of a pain in the butt cause the amp is so tall. But with a bit of fiddling I found it a nice home.
The sub is in a fiberglass box that is hidden in the jack compartment. The box is about .6cu give or take a bit (with some polly fill for good measure).
The system sounds great. I have yet to start it up and check for any noise (hopefully there will not be any, but knowing my luck there will be). I still need to fiddle with the cross over settings and I have yet to eq the car, but I am quite happy overall.
I know, I know. All this talk and no pictures... So without further ado.

Now on to fixing up a few little leaks and here I come summer. Tops off, Stereo Up. Should be fun.

I think you'll be okay, though, as the amp should take care of the low frequencies and not bring on the high frequency noise. I did this earlier, just had a sub matched to normal speakers, and had no issue.
Good luck with it.

(No I don't have top bags!)

77Dream> Thanks. It sounds great. Hopefully I can get it a bit better with some more eq and crossover fiddling.
1bad69> Thanks Mike... Lazy hmm.. I can see that :-) hahaha. If you want any help just let me know. I am always willing to help out.
joeveto> Thanks. I will take all the prayers I can get. I will have the car started for the first time later this week, so I will see what happens. (Fingers crossed)
Avette4me> Thanks man. Ya I noticed that my seats were gone as well ;). I am in the middle of replacing the fiberglass backs that I destroyed last year with felt covered wood ones. I got one done today and it looks ok :-)
Corey 68> Thanks. It is nice to see hard work turn into something nice.
NorthVette> Thanks. The t-tops fit with no problems. I have only 1 bag currently, and I stack them and there is lots of space. I think I am going to break out the sewing machine and make some of my own bags out of some heavy red fabric. :-)
A C> Ya that was my main goal. I wanted to make sure I still had room to pack stuff back there for a weekend :-)
Rich80> Very nice. Good job.
I think I just officially "replied to the most people in one message"
It is nice to hear all the great comments. It gets kind of lonely out in the garage late at night. I can always count on the people here on the forum to help keep the spirits up.
Now on to the small fixes and then to drive... Wooo hooo!!!!
chris.
Nice job.
I have a red interior as well and I wanted to build the rear speaker mounts. Did you use 1/4" plywood? Also, were did you buy the felt. Roughly, how much do I buy.
Thanks, Don

chris.

As for the rattle. I have yet to hear any. My compartment covers are quite tight when they go in. I think sombody did a little modifying and they don't quite fit right any more. I have pushed the sub a bit but I am taking my time and working it in :-) If I do hear any rattles I am just going to get some sort of gasket (maybe sticky foam tape) and put it on the bottom edge of the lids. That is only if I hear anything. My car makes so much noise else where (63hz is a good frequency to find rattles in my car ) that I am not sure if I will know where it is comming from.
