Default Need help with power window motor

My drivers side window motor took a dump the other day, i was able to remove it by unbolting the regulator from the door. After i removed the motor from the regulator (with the regulator still in the door) the spring spun around and now i have to figure out how to put everything back. I did some searching on this site and found a few threads that seem to suggest that i have to pull the window out and start from there.

Can anyone give me a rough idea of what i have to do? Thanks

I do't remember how to describe it muc closer exactly, but you have to fight that spring untill the teeth line up enough to the motor gear position, with motor/gear housing NOT mounted.....and slide a bolt through the two holes that line up close to that position....it's not really all that hard, but it can be a bit of struggle, depending on how you tackle it....I use a short 3/8 bolt with nut on it....then mount the motor on it, and take the bolt out....

just remember that assy is sorta like the belly button bolt, if you unscrew it your as s will fall off..... :D :D :lolg:

Thanks for the advice, i was gonna use some vice grips and try and hold it in place. Did you do this while the regulator was still in the door or did you pull everything out first?

Mrvette's advice is good but let me add some more. Get a friend and have him help. With the motor off, compress the spring and have the friend push a small bolt into the holes, once they are aligned. This is done OFF the car. When the bolt is inserted, practice putting the motor in place so that you will know how it goes. You do this because the insertion of the motor into the bracket is done with the regulator in place. You are doing this by feel and a couple of practice tries is a good thing. Remember that it doesn't matter where the teeth of the motor contact the teeth on the regulator, as long as the whole thing lines up.
