I am having the hardest time deciding on which valve covers to put on my '72's 454. I have aluminum heads with a polished intake and orange block( of course). I like the stock chrome covers but the new cast aluminum competition valve covers from GM are sweet. I have also noticed the covers from a yourcovers.com which come either polished or powdercoated orange. So some pics from you guys would really be appreciated. And by the way, do I need tall covers if I am running roller rocker arms? Thanks guys!

Re: Which valve covers do you have? (Obdoc)
I was planning on using my stock 454 covers for now. They're painted black (1987 engine)right now, but I was going to blast them and paint them orange. Out setup sounds similar, orange block, aluminum heads/intake. I really haven't seen any covers that said "buy me".
Check with 69N.O.X.Ratt, he had a set of the competition covers and I thought he had a seal problem.
I used red plastic ones to match my engine color. I have roller rockers and a stud girdle so I required tall vavle covers. I had aluminum MT standard covers before with the roller rockers but needed to remove the oil drippers from the inside for clearance.
I am not a fan of the plastic covers and would not buy them again. I would go for a good set of aluminum covers
I heard that the aluminum valve covers with the black mat finish are the best for disipating heat.
I have the tall black wrinkle finish cast aluminun with Chevrolet script in red. They come with spreaders cast into the cover around the bolt holes. Got them from Summit Racing. Wish I could post a pic.

I found these on eBay and thought they were too cool not to buy:
I also like the Chevrolet aluminum racing style covers with the chevrolet in raised text.
Excellent! I like those flame valve covers. To those running tall covers, do they interfer with any thing like the alternator, master cylinder, or the wiper vacuum actuator?
