Odd Ball Sound
I'm getting this odd ball sound at idle much of a wining noise. If I press in the clutch in the sound goes away. I've been told of two possible problems. One it could be the throw out bearings or bearings in the transmission. It's an M22 4 speed. Has anyone got any other thoughts. Thanks confused:

It could be a vaccuum hose collapsing or leaking but I'd guess the bearings are more likely. Depends on if it sounds like a squeeky baloon or if it sounds like metal on metal.

Same thing was happening with my T-10. I replaced the throw out bearing to no avail. It would wine in 1st thru 3rd gears and get quiet in 4th. Finally had the bearings and one syncro replaced. It's perfect now.

OK I asked around at the shop today what this odd Ball sound may be. I was told its the countershaft bearing. I'm still :confused: . Is this a major job and what sort of questions should I be asking. Is there anything else that should be done while the transmisson is out. Thanks for all the help.
