I also used the SUMMIT ( NORTHERN ) universal alu rad.
Required some welding to angle the water necks. They come just straight on the universals.
No way to pass the alternator drive belts on the big block otherwise.
You can't beat the price of this universal rads.
Good luck Gunther

Had mine recored, they used my side tanks and header plates. Looks like an NOS radiator. Cost was around 200 bucks. If you have a small block, then your radiator is aluminum....once they go they're trash. If you are looking for a direct factory replacement, contact, DeWitt, one of the supporting vendors. If factory correct is not a concern, DeWitt may still be your choice, but check the pricing on Bee Cool, and Summit.
Good Luck
They will also sell them with electric fans pre installed. I got the dual spals.

I used universal hoses that look like an according, much thicker than a stock hose and have what appears to be metal rings molded inside them to keep their shape. On the top hose it looked like it was going to hit the alt belt so I rotated the hoses at the intake neck just enough to clear the alt belt before I tightened the clamp. The lower is resting against the frame a little but it is so think because of the according feature it has barely rubbed the coating off it.
Might not work for a rat but worked great for my little mouse.
Yes, I also thought about this, but found this hoses rather expensive.
Saw them in JEGS and SUMMIT, but the price of them. :mad
The welding cost me a six pack because it was done at work by our professional aircraft welder.
That's why I couldn't say any price to get this done, so may be this hose option is the better one at the end.
What pi..es me off is the price to recore a 4 row copper rad.
In USA 200 $, over here in Europe 400 Euro ( = 400 $ ). :mad
That's why I went the universal alu rad way for 170 $, actually cost me 230 $ including shipping + import tax. :nonod:
I would do this again. Gunther :seeya
If you want the absolute best price on a radiator and don't mind using custom hoses, cutting and welding parts, and/or spending hours to make them fit, then the others are looking pretty good.
I am beginning to wonder what I am doing spending money as a supporting vendor of this forum when I read threads like this. I don't see Jegs, summit, northern, or be-cool spending any money yet 90% of the referals are going that way. Where are the dozens of guys that have purchased our products? We have had successful GP and I hardly ever see any good ink on these packages. It's like no news is good news on the forum. You make 100 rads perfect...nothing. You do something wrong and there it is, posted for hundreds to read. All I hear is cheaper, cheaper, cheaper. I remember the days when vette drivers wanted nothing but the best, now it's how cheap can I by it for. $10? less, come on! People drop $5000 in an engine and then balk at spending $495 for a "direct fit" aluminum radiator to cool it.
Below is a picture of just one of our c3 radiators. BTW, we make FIVE totally different radiators for 68-72 models. Be-cool makes two. If this isn't the best fitting and best looking aluminum radiator on the market I would like to see it. The rant is over but don't reply to me here. I won't be signing on to the forum for a few weeks so I can re-evaulate my advertsing dollars
