Starting tomorrow, 5/1/2003, Fort Bend County cars 1979 and later will be subject to the same emissions testing as neighboring Houston (Harris Co.).
Get out there TODAY to get your inspection done on your '79-'82 C3s.
I did mind yesterday (since my air pump and cat are long gone) and bought myself another year (also, at $12.50 instead of the new $40).
Brazoria County is going into effect on 5/1 also. I can't believe how dumb people can be to wait until today to attempt to get that inspection. Looks as if Pearland is full of'em.
I went out at lunch and you would have thought all the inspection places(mechanic shops & oil change places) were giving away free stuff with the cars lined up to get that tag before tomorrow. Even the *crooked* shops who everyone avoids had lines of cars. Gives me the creeps to think what kind of stuff those places were finding wrong to make a quick buck.
I feel for you guys! :( We're looking at emissions testing REAL soon in the San Antonio area. But it looks like my '79 will have "antique" plates before that nonsense checks in around here.
And I feel really sorry for all the low-income folks in some parts of our town. They're really gonna get smacked by all this testing nonsense what with their old mid-80's Chevy pickups and the like... :leaving:
I got the Suburban done and the Blazer. I actually was told yesterday that the requirement was on us already and so I made the move to get it done. No problem - no waiting. Now only 2 cars left ....BUT - they are 1972 and 1969 - out of the scope of the requirement - so I guess I am not so dumb ! :nopity
