I'm getting everything back together and the pullies are not lining up well.
I have a new alternator and the mounting flange is narrower than the original one so that I needed washers on the bolt to keep the alternator forward enough. Even with that, the pulley is too far back.
Do I need the second pulley on the alternator, or will the one pulley work? The original alt had a double pulley.
Also, the adjustment bracket has two holes on the lower part of the arm. Do both of these bolt into the head somehow? I can only get one on the upper waterpump bolt. The other doesn't line up anywhere.
If I remember correctly, my 69 SB AIM shows both alternator brackets (upper and lower) as well as the AIR pump upper bracket on the same water pump bolt. I believe that there should also be split washers between the brackets which pushes them forward a bit. I think that the top alternator bracket is in front (closest to the hex bolt head). As I recall, there is only one hole at the base of my upper bracket and just a single pulley on the alternator.
Do your lower pulleys (on the balancer) line up with the water pump pulleys? How about power steering?
