Default Rear Lights. What light pattern is right?

I was checking over my car yesterday after the first drive of the year. I was checking the light and I noticed that with the head lights on the outer rear lights are dimly light and in inside rear lights are out. When you put your foot on the brake the outer lights go bright, and the inner are still out. When you put the car in reverse the inner lights go on.

I was just wondering if this is right, or is somthing funny going on.

chris.

As stated, that is the way it's supposed to work.

Also, I believe that the red on the inboard lights is reflective.

Something I lost when I went to the bubbles I guess.
