Well beasicly I run my vette for about 30 minets or more i trun it off then if i try to start it back up it dosent start untill it cools down when its cold it starts up like a charm. Im not sure if its overheating but i replaced the temp switch and it shows more then 200 degrees but im not sure its acurate at all. But from what i can say the thing gets very very hot even the intake and valve covers get hot enought that you cant keep your hands on them without getting burned. I dono if this is normal on corvette is personaly never had a car with such a big engine so i dono. I also have a MSD ignition in it it also gets kinda hot. Im not sure if this is an over heating problem or ingition problem  :cry
Re: VETTE WONT START( HELP PZL) (76flamedOutVette)
That sounds like a classic case of heat soak in the starter motor. Your exhaust manifolds or headers are making the starter get very hot and it has a hard time making the motor turn over. The best cure is a new gear reduction mini starter. :yesnod:
Re: VETTE WONT START( HELP PZL) (76flamedOutVette)
All engines no matter if their 4 cyl or 8 cyl should run about 200 degrees when fully warmed up since the thermostat on most cars is 195 degrees. It sould like you have a bad starter like AC said, however you don't say if you can turn the engine over or not and if you smell gasoline. If the engine turns over alright but you smell a deep smell of Gas, then you probably have a leaking pump valve in the carb or if you don't smell gas it's the starter!
Re: VETTE WONT START( HELP PZL) (76flamedOutVette)
As opposed to buying a mini starter you can just put a heatshield onto the starter. A lot of vendors have them and can probably be made yourself if you really want.
