Default Hydroboost problem solved

I installed my system about a month ago and had some problems with the brake pedal pressure. It was quite hard at first application then would go almost to full power. It was tough to drive this way either little brakes or to much. I talked with Paul many times on this and he was willing to do whatever it took. We tried a different unit to no avail. So we figured it had to be in the pump or a bad master cylinder. I kind of got mad at myself and just put it off for a while. Paul emailed on Friday and said he had a similar problem in a 71 Vette and knew what the cure was. I was not getting enough volume of fluid. He sent me a picture of the modification to the valve in the pump. I did exactly what he said and I'm glad to say the system works perfectly now. Much better pedal and more power than I ever had before. (manual brakes before) The car stops straight and true now. Very satisfied with the system and Paul and company worked through this problem with me.

How much room did you gain by eliminating the vac booster? I know there are clearance issues if you have a big block & tall valve covers with the original booster.

There are no problems with the hydraboost and tall valve covers. The clearance is a few inches and you can pull the cover without comming near the hydraboost. There is also enough room to easily change the back 2 plugs.

Are there valve cover/booster clearance issues? Not what I wanted to hear. For some reason I was under the impression that those clearanced valve covers were for C2s, and that C3s had more room... This is a bummer.

I did not have a booster as I had manual brakes. Also running a small block so clearance is not an issue. Big Blocks with tall valve covers will hit the stock booster. The hydroboost system gives you plenty of clearance with a big block. Not even a factor with a small block. I was looking for better braking and found it with this system.
