any suggestions as to what i can do to stop the brakes on my '77 from squealing. it has come to the point where it is an embarrassment to drive my Vette. i overhauled the brakes within the last 2000 miles or so. any help would be greatly appreciated
Are they giving a high pitched squeal when applied? If so remove the pads and cover the whole rear (metal) side of each pad with "Disc Brake Quiet" and reinstall them before it dries. This is available in a tube or bottle, is usually red or blue in color, at any parts store. This is a guaranteed fix for the high speed vibration you are getting, that comes across as a squeal. Cost is only a few dollars.
Best, Greg
It's a pliable glue that holds the pads in contact with the pistons...that's where squeal usually comes fome...the pads will vibrate against the pistons and other parts of the caliper. The glue will act as a vibration buffer and hold the pads in place.
