Default Rear spring bolt removal

Put the rear of the vette up on stands and removed the rear wheels. I jacked up the composite spring. While doing this I noticed the top of the bolts are rising out of the t-arm and the bottoms are hanging on the end of the spring. The top of the bolt is really leaning towards the differential. Do I need to raise the rear susp.? Remember, the rears wheels are off and the back of the vette is up on jackstands. The susp is fully extended. Should I be doing this with the wheels on and the car on the ground?

You just want to get the tension of the bolts so you can remove them. Whether the slack is on the top or the bottom shouldn't matter. Mine were rusted and I just cut them and pulled them out from both ends.

Take the car off the stands and let the wheels rest on the floor. Put a floor jack under the spring (you may want a C clamp on the spring so the it doesn't slip). Jack up hte spring until it lifts enougth to remove the bolt. I just replaced my bushings last winter. Surprisingly this was easy and fast. It helps if you have the tire bucket removed, as you have a lot more room to work with.
