Are the two bolts that secure the upper control arm free floating or are they pressed to the frame? (... not so clear a question.... ) If I undo the nut on the bolts can I slide the bolts out and then slid the arms up and out or do the arms have to be slid inward off of the bolts?
Amazing ! All my problem are solved! Where exactly does the clamp and socket get placed? :conehead
By the way, I was reading the article on "corvettefaqs" about the front suspension job, and the guy who did it pulled the radiator any everything to get the upper arms out. If that was the only way, it was just going to have to waite till next winter!! :smash:
I did mine without instruction. And that's not because I'm a genius. It's just that easy. But let me also say, I had no engine, no radiator, nothing in the car, when I tackled my front end.
I'm assuming you're going to swap out your bushings. When you do this, do yourself a favor: find someone with an industrial press, and have at it. I tried the job with a crappy little 12 ton press, and was miserable. My buddy and I nailed the other side in less than 30 minutes. The right side, the side I did alone, took hours upon hours, and I was a basket case the entire time.
