Since I am having some work done anyway with swaping my OEM oilpan for the aluminum one, I am considering replacing the cam while I'm at it. I have a 383 stroker with race ported Dart 200 heads and a single plane intake, might be the time to drop a 282 cam in to replace the mild 278, or should I sell the whole package and drop in a big block. Decisions, decisions.
btw the C5 seats are now in, Cragars on later this week, my 72 vert, is starting to really come around, I just hope I don't loose total interest once complete.
It will take a valve spring change for more cam in your motor. At least for enough cam to really make much change in power output.
I would put a Crower flat tappet solid lifter cam in it and a spacer on the intake now that you have a L88 hood and if you want a Rat motor,,,save that for a winter project.
Curtis, I saw you on SpeedVision the other night. They were doing a show on ppl who have fast cars and there you were, they timed you on your trial run from Norman to Bowling Green in 9.3 sec inlcuding 1 pit stop. Damn man I am looking fwd to seeing you, will bring the Explorer then for sure. :yesnod:
For those of you reading this, his return trip was about 1 sec slower but not a bad run in reverse though.
