I have done most of my shopping at summit too. Never had problems and the one time there was a problem they took care of it. I ordered the wrong part because there was a typo on their pages. They gave me my money back. They are the best supplier I've ever dealt with. All the others (vette parts) screwed stuff up (international orders are a PITA)
Deal with Jegs and some others too but had them ship stuff to a contact in the US>
Lets B careful here guys.......Been here looooong enuff to know that one of the 10 Commandments of the Forum is: Thou shalt not Bash Thy Vendor, For He is thy Forum's Lifeblood......and then we will ALL have to accept typewritten abuse from thy Monitors. That being said: What the HELL is the matter with those folks at Summit?
Been dealing with Summit for years now... Only 3 problems:
1. Sent 4 front shocks. I didn't catch this mistake for 1 1/2 years so I didn't bother to try to fix it.
2. A -4 AN hose end somehow ended up in a -6 AN hose end box. Sent it back, they reimbursed shipping and sent the right part.
3. Most recently when my fuel injection kit arrived the coolant temperature sensor's plastic housing was snapped off from shipping. A call to the customer service line was... interesting. First a quick 3 selection menu.... followed by another 3 selection menu. Upon entering my choice on the second menu there was half a ring followed by a person answering "Hello is this -my full name-?" Kind of freaked me out for a second. Anyhow, in less than two minutes dial to hang-up I had a replacement sensor ordered.
I haven't dealt with Jegs or Summit yet. I've ordered parts from Zip and they were correct, got here fast and they didn't beat me up on 2nd day shipping.
Van Steel is also top notch. I took my car there for suspension stuff. They noticed a few other things too, but only suggested the safety items be replaced. I knew there were a lot of other things that needed to be done to the car, but they only did what was absolutely necessary, as I was on a budget.
I'd highly recommend both vendors. :yesnod:
Alwyas been happy with Summit but Jeg's screwed me royal one time. Ordered a set of headers and decide to send them back with some other stuff. Put the return info in the small box. They received both boxes but showed no reciept into inventory for the headers and since my girlfriend shipped them from her store at 8 lbs they said it could not have been headers and refused to refund my money. :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss
Man thats a killer lookin 505. Is it goin in a vette? Im resting assured that you will not have hood clearence problems, as "clearence" in yur case, is defined by how far above the hood it sticks out. Very cool.
Yep its going in my 1981. I almost have everything I need to complete it.
*cough* besides my headers lol!!!
I sit there looking at my desktop dyno results every day on my desktop wondering what damage I can do to my stock rear end:)
I have dealt with Summit and had good luck. Excellent service, pricing, and shipping. This winter, I had my BB rebuilt. My engine builder allowed me to order the parts and provided me with a list of parts using JEGS numbers. I thought I would give JEGS a chance as I did not want to cross reference all of the parts numbers to order from Summit. I had priced my parts out of a Summit catalog and all the pricing was comparable until I got to the pistons. My engine builder had given me the choice of going with the Keith Blacks or stepping up a little and going with the TRW Speed Pro forged piston. At Summit, the Speed Pros were slightly more expensive ($100 or so) so I decided I was going to go with the forged pistons. When I placed the order with JEGS, the guy quoted me $600 for the forged pistons. I said wait a minute, I could get Ross or JE for that kinda price. He said the Speed Pro cost $600. I called Summit and they had them for $380. Obviously a screw up. I dumped JEGS and went with Summit.
They have served me well and I have bought thousands of $ in parts from them.
Sorry to hear about your hassle. Yet I have bought $$$$ of parts through Summit over the past 5 years and have only the most professional, prompt, and helpful response. Summit has kind of become a benchmark for truly superior customer service in my opinion.
Yeah, its understandable that they screwed up, I was just pissed cause they messed up my order. Summit is a great company and who knows how many thousands of people depend on them. They have way more in stock then Jegs, and they even sponsor races at our local drag strip. They even featured my neighbors Camaro on their web site when he won fastest street car for last year.
I really like Summit and I would buy from them again.
Summit: I am sorry, now SEND ME THE RIGHT SIDEPIPES THIS TIME!!!!! :skep: :seeya
