Default Door lock ???

The problem is that I can lock my drivers side door from the inside when I get out, but cannot unlock it when I come back to my car using the key. I have to unlock the passengers door and reach across to unlock drivers door. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I need to adjust or what may be not correct.

Thanks for any input.

Mine did this when I first got it. Liberal amounts of graphite lock lube in the keyhole helped allot. But to get it working like new you have to take the door panel off and clean all moving parts.

Eddie check the operation of the lock byb looking at it with the panel off. Make sure the arm is moving without binding. I found the rod bent on my car when I had that problem. Ifhte latch is full of grease and dirt I would remove the assembly from the door and clean it. adjust the handle throw and the lock rod. With a little time, carb cleaner, and white grease it should work like new.

I have the door panel off and it looks like the key is not turning the release far enough to unlatch it. I have the lock rod to the inside **** undone so it doesn`t interfere. It goes plenty far in the lock direction just not far enough in the unlock direction.

How much trouble is it to remove the whole latching mecanism. I have cleaned it as best as I could using a rag soaked in thinner.

Any chance that it's 180 degrees off and can be attached differently?

Everything looks okay. Now my new question is which one of the spring clips is the easier to get off that attaches the door handle to the latching mechanism. There are two, one at the top that holds the bent rod to the handle and the other end that attaches to the latch mechanism itself. It looks like one or the other should be easier when reassembling. I have it already to come out right now but it is caught by these two spring metal retainers. Anyone know the which one to remove. I am gonna go see which is easier for me and just do it.

Any help here is appreciated.
