Aluminum oil pan
Is there any real advantage to putting one on, I have one sitting in my garage that I took on exchange for a deposit not returned last summer. My original one is in great condition, so are they mainly for looks or does the al. pan cool the oil down enough to be worthwhile?

Cast aluminum pans will do nothing for cooling. Sheet aluminum pans do have a slight cooling effect. The baffling and windage screens for oil control is far more important than what the pan is made out of.

My guess is the stiffer metal will make/keep a better seal. If you have lots of aluminum on the motor it would look good too. :cool:
