Lowes has a similar set for $39 for seven wrenches. Only difference is that one side is on, and the other is off -- no switch. Big deal. I love 'em! :yesnod:
I have the one's called GearWrench and they are my first choice of wrenches unless I am working on something which is extremely tight. I also have a set of the same brand with the breakover heads which are very handy in tight places (on a Vette?  ).
I would have preferred the Craftsman brand for these wrenches, but, even the Club prices are quite a bit more than the GearWrench brand and I just didn't see the need to pay for the brand this time although most of my tools are Craftsman.
I picked up a set at Sam's of 4 most common size made by Cresent. These do not have the lever to reverse direction, you just turn the wrench over. Seems thay would be more reliable without a lever to break or malfunction. Don't remember the price, was couple of years ago.
Who doesn't use rat-shidding box wrenches? I typically use them for the U-bolts on the driveshaft, clutch adjustments, parking break adjustments, and any place that a socket won't fit. I don't have that style, I have the double ended ones with the rat-shidding box on each end.
I started taking apart my exhaust sytem; lots of clamps, and especially the 3 nuts that hold the front pipe to the exhaust manifold. I was thinking I could save myself a lot of time if I had a ratchet wrench. Anybody use these things? :) MJ
I have box end only but really like the open ones. I have busted a few of them using a little too much force and teh open end might take the force better. BTW they are craftsman so I got a free replacement.
I want the Craftsman but they are pricey, any one know the quality of the ones at Farm & Fleet? Think the ones at F&F are made in the USA and have the life time warranty. Plus the box end swevals (spelling)
Wow...quite a link regarding wrenches. I personally own the gear wrench ones offered by Lowe's. They are superior. I do like Craftsman tools but I bought a set of theirs for my brother and I found them to be difficult to use since the left/right switch is easily hit. The gear wrench ones are one sided, one side is on, flip it over for off. Just my opinion.
It's funny you bring this up. I just got a set for my birthday. There are lots of times that a regular socket is too big for tight places. I was going to invent this until I found that someone already did.

I have a 12 pc. set of those in standard and a 14 pc. metric set, both Snap-On. They are the angle head, therefore a forward/reverse switch, and the open end is Snap-On's patented Flank Drive Plus, for those of you who are familiar with that. They are great. And the Snap-On warranty is unbeatable.....you break it for any reason and you get a new one no questions asked until the end of time. :yesnod: I also have a set of Gear Wrench straight handle wrenches (the kind you flip over to reverse) but I found myself not liking the lack of an angle head. Seems like I was bumping my knuckles a little bit too much.
