Default question on new clip install

I am going to pull off the new clip and start work on the firewall.

My question is this: Should I align the doors first so that I can use them as a guide to align the new clip? The driver door looks like it can be aligned better.

I wont order it for a couple months so I have no instructions.

Thanks

Order up a copy of "Echlers fiberglass repair". There is a hole section on replacing the front clip.

I have it at home.
What year are we dealing with and I will see if it has a good section on how to do it.
If it does and you can't find the book anymore you can use mine if you just send it back to me when you are done.
Let me know and I can look during lunch today when I go home.

James- Thanks fo the generous offer. I have a 71. Right now all I need to know is if I should align my doors before removing old clip. If I'm not mistaken, I wil use the doors in part to line up the new one.. I wont need the book for a while.. If I cant find one o ebay in about 3 months, I may take you up on that.
Thanks

I would align the doors before you remove the clip. Just make sure that after you move the door the windows will still be able to be adjusted.
Are you going to install a new clip? If so they normaly come a little bit long in the door area and have to be trimmed. When I did the clip on my 71 I used the hood location as the main alignment. The hood has to be on when you do this. There is a dimension from the firewall to the radiator housing which has to be maintained so there is enough room for the hood to open and close.
Zip has the echler book in their catalog. I would really make a effort to find a copy even before you start taking things apart, it's worthwhile.
