Hopefully I have a quick question. I'm planning on installing a T56 into my 1969 coupe that currently has an M21. I just recently (earlier this year) bought a dual friction clutch (10 spline 11") for that transmission. Please don't tell me I need another clutch for the T56. Though if you absolutely must, tell me that someone on the forum will take a barely used (under 100 miles; not even broken in) CFII from me for 70-80% the cost of a new one.
Are there different models of T56 transmissions out there that use different clutch sizes? I would guess a Viper T56 wouldn't be the same as an F-body or Y-body T56 as they're different makers and have different power outputs.
The standard Fbody T56 installation uses a hydraulic pull type pressure plate, whereas you '69 has a mechanical push type. The f-body and viper trannies had several differences like the length of input shaft, etc.I believe that there are aftermarket plates that allow the mating of the F body T56 and a standard type clutch and bellhousing. Clutch size will be dependant on bellhousing/flywheel size.
