exhaust aligment
I am just finishing up installation of a stock exhaust sytem fron Corvette Central. What is the proper alignment for the pipes under the axle and the mufflers? I am assuming the pipes should be close to horizontal and the mufflers aligned so that the tail pipes point straight back. It seems the best I can get is pipes slightly angled up and tail pipes slightly turned out.

CC will also sell you an assembly manual. There will be a nice couple pages that show you how they align everything at the factory. Be sure you spring for the extra $10 and also get the INDEX to the darn thing! Enjoy!

Maybe we can get people to post pics.... problem is nobody has stock welded exhaust!! :lol: Everybody has aftermarket mufflers with extra elbows that allow for twisting and pointing in the right direction. It's a pain in the ****, but infinitely adjustable. I am not 100% sure if your muffler outlet is supposed to be pointing straight out the back or if the tips can be attached to slightly out-turned mufflers. The tips definitely are supposed to be pointing straight out the back! :) MJ

Some early years including 69's WERE welded except at the frame pass-through and the tips. Mine point straight back and are centered in the bezel. I have a weled system that is most likely from allens exhaust. It is a very close copy of the original.
