Default OT: Model building / restoring vet

As I was meticulously painting my egg crate grills the other day I was thinking how similar restoring this car is to working on those plastic models of cars when I was a kid. A couple days ago I was re-glueing the stickers (you would think that we have the technology to make the stickers the right size and actually stick) onto my freshly painted compartment doors – and I was getting glue all over the place just like trying to put stickers on the little model cars. Another similarity is, whenever I opened my box of parts they were either not all there or the parts were just incorrect. At least when I bought a model car I didn’t have to wait for all the options because they were on BACK ORDER for three months……… Of course the main similarity to the models and my project car is the new air scoop. The biggest difference is the price. :jester

Another comparison: The boxes that the models came in always shrank when you took the parts out. Apparently, your engine compartment shrank when you took the engine out. :lolg:

I remember building the kits, anxious for the day I could work on the real thing.

Now that I have many examples of the real thing (6 cars and counting) I kind of wish I could just go back to the models....

And now it takes about a thousand of those little jars of Testors to paint one!
