Well tommorow I get the findings of the body shop and it's a 99% chance of it being totalled and as I wrote before then my private appraiser will re-evaluate the vechicle with all the new stuff done to it which will be given to my lawyer and he can haggle with her insurance as to pay-off. Looking for 25K for the car and who knows what for the P.I. I plan to buy back the Vette and part it off here on the Forum and E-Bay. When that time comes I'll supply digital pics and receipts for everything i plan to sell. bY THE WAY EVERYTHING IS NEW AND LESS THAN 2000 MILES ON ANY ONE PART. That extra money I get can go towards a new Vette. The pay-off I intend to use towards a house and when I have built sufficient equity then I can look for either a Z06, C-2, C3 BB ragtop or a mint 58-60 fuelie ( I know that is a wide spectrum but I've always wanted to own one of the above). First things first is to get this law suit finished and 2 is get the hell out of Pacific Beach. Again today another SDSU student tried to take my life as I crossed the street in front of my house and he/ she was doing at least 50 in a 25MPH zone. Bottom line it is dangerous to live here with all these young inexperienced, drunk drivers and 2 they have no fear or reconsiliation about their wrong doings. If I buy a Vette now it will also get hit, it's simply the law of averages. And out here the average driver is an idiot. Everyone is in a rush to get to the beach and "get their drink on" go "hang out with their homies" etc. miix that with alcohol and a car they did not pay for (Mommy and Daddy) and you have a recipe for disaster. mark my words I will have a Vette soon but not until I move somewhere where caring, responcible adults live, not Pee Wee;s playhouse.
Don't think your area is the only one not full of irresponsible idiots behind the wheel. My neighbors finally got the city to put a 30MPH speed limit on our street because of the kids in their souped up Tangs running rampid at 70-100 miles per hour on a street that is only about 3/8" mile long. I don't think it will do any good, but it is just a matter of time that they will kill someone. I bought in my neighborhood because it was so quiet and well kept up, but it's changed in the last few years.
As a note... I'm thinking about suing you for finding a way of recooping $25,000 of your $27,000 investment if that's what you get. I think it is nothing but a *plot* to leave us suckers behind with our over-invested vettes and I will NOT have you make me into a bigger fool than I already am.

Re: Cali' future plans (bgrice)
Sorry to hear about the loss, hope you get what you put into from insurance, could look at the bright side, that being you might make out better from the insurance company than if you had sold it. I hope you stick around the forum.
Was in Pacific Beach in the early '80's, nice place to party but wouldn't want to live there for the reasons you state and that was 20 years ago. :D

Was the speed limit 100 MPH before? Obviously, you could make the speed limit 5 mph and they're still going to go as fast as they want. The one thing a lot of neighborhoods have been doing down here is putting in large rolling speed bumps. Unfortunately, it's a real pain in the **** for us law abiding citizens.

No its not the only place with idiots.... but..... Pacific beach has more bars per mile (on two seperate roads) than any City in the US. That makes it incredibly popular with the young, college , drinking crowd. The whole town is geared almost entirely towards alcohol and food (meaning hot wings, burgers, tex-mex, cal-mex, mex-mex, coffee houses you name it we got it.)

That thought has certainly occurred to me. I seem to remember being told speedbumps were not allowed because they would slow down emergency vehicles.
Cali, i hope you get max money out of this bad situation. MJ
They have what they call "rumble strips" on my street. Its just a large strip of reflectors going accross the road and it just maks noise when you go over them. You cans still speed over them (for emergency vehicles) but they definately make you aware of your speed.
Sorry Dave, not trying to hi-jack your post.

Re: Cali' future plans (Cali,77,L-82)
My Shark was totaled more than a year ago and I still have no idea what I am going to do with it. Sounds like you have a plan. Best of luck to you, Cali.

On your plans of buying back the vette & parting it out.... I ran into this auction on E-bay with a seller attempting to part out a Burgandy '74 vert. Everything from the hardtop to the doors to everything I guess they have taken off so far. Maybe it will give you an idea of the market. I'm going to post this as a subject just in case any '74 owners are looking for parts. http://cgi6.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...serid=penewise
Here in FL we get it just as bad only here they can't even see over the steering wheel! I had an old lady (nice as can be but she couldn't see or hear anything!) cut me off while I was on my Harley. I saw her in time so I only had to lay it down and there was only minor impact and less than $1K damage to my bike but man, they don't even TRY to look. Frustrating I know.
hey, i can say right now that not all people around there are drunken drivers, but many are just stupid. im only about 45 mins away from you and i know its the party town and rice heaven around here. I love it (partys not rice), im only 18 but we all drive really nice cars( only people in riverside) dont move because some dumb butt bitches made a mistake that will screw them. take the money you get and get another one. it will never bring back that one or the time, love, money that was put into that one. it was awsome car, but i know where your comming from, i see like 10 times i could have crashed if i wasnt looking driving like 5 miles home. not your fault, build up another vette. i dont know what i would do with-out my baby but i know i would just build up a red 69 vert big block :smash: around my frineds we always have someone to drive home when we party because we get messed up on weekends, so we all give our keys to that person before we start drinking. it saves cars, and lives. glad your ok, cars can be fixed or replaced a life cant. Cali rules dont leave because someone wasnt smart with there drinking.

My Stealth just got totalled last month by a little old lady pulling a blind left turn right in front of me. Like the man said, she didn't even TRY to look. I was watching her face the whole time, and she just pulled right out into a busy intersection.
