Default need suggestions:flat acceleration on primaries

79 L48, Qjet, all original motor (as far as I can see) and true duals through manifolds and mystery mufflers.
While accelerating, the car seems kinda flat until the secondaries open. There is a VERY brief hesitation, then a HUGE kick in the back as the car takes off and you hear the secondaries open up. I tired adjusting my secondary air valve windup, and this is the best I can get. A little looser and it bogs bad when the secondaries open too soon. A little tighter and it seems like the secondaries don't want to open at all. My 60' times this weekend were 2.2 with no tire spin. (not that it even CAN spin em unless I powerbrake)
Does anyone have any suggetions? Or is this typical of a stock L48?

you probably need richer main jets and needles, and a high flow (marine) needle and seat-
