Default Thanks everyone!

I have had the Vette for over two years now.

First of all, you guys really helped me pick the right car to buy. Thank you:)

Then you helped me deal with little problems, and encouraged me to enjoy driving the car.

You talked me through installing Steeroids- A huge job that I never would have considered if I didn't have the forum for help. Thankyou!

At that point I had spent too much money and had to stay away from the forum for a while- I get too many ideas here and am tempted to spend money I don't have.

I had been wanting to add more HP, but the car was running good so I couldn't justify the expense.

In March my car started running like crap. So without fear I decided to get new heads and a cam, and hopefully find what was causing it to run like crap. I was fearless because I know that I have you for help. The car had an overheating problem, so I ordered a Dewitt rad and dual Spal fans since I needed to remove that rad anyway.

Well after I got the heads off I saw how ugly the pistons were and how bad the spark plugs looked.

So I rented a hoist and pulled the block out and am having a reputable Machine shop rebuild the engine. When the Engine builder saw my heads he immediately knew that they had leaded valves- That explained alot!

The transmission had a horrible leak that was spilling fluid all over the clutch!

I was feeling bold enough to do the home modified TKO swap that many Forum members had done- I would need pro help for this because I don't know how to weld. I had planned to tow the car 2 hours away to Bowtie Overdrives to get the work done.

But then a forum member posted a link to Keisler. A bolt in TKO Transmission :) It costs a little more, but I can do it myself, and don't need to tow the car.

My wife really didn't like not having a headrest, and I hate the '68 seats. So thanks to the forum (even the C4 and C5 sections) I went to Pomona to buy C4 seats. I was able to order Leather in '68 Saddle:) for the C4 seats.

Since the C4 seats are not a direct bolt in, I went to Walmart to buy a welder! I haven't touched a welder since High School! But because of the forum, I know someone can help me with what I can't figure out on my own.

Now I'm in the "while yer at it" frame of mind doing every little thing to the engine compartment I can while the engine is out. Corvettes are a real joy to work on when there is no engine in the way;)

Because there is so much room to work I've decided to add Hydroboost, Replace the wiper door and Headlight vacuum lines, replace the wiring harness, And paint the whole compartment. It is beautiful now!

SO $10,000 later I can say thanks guys

I'm glad interest rates dropped. I was able to refinance and borrow enough money for the spring/summer '03 Vette upgrade and a new roof for the house, and pay less each month than I was before!!!

When I bought the car I didn't even plan on changing my own oil!

THANKS EVERYONE!!

It's funny how this forum can inspire confidence. What a wealth of knowledge these guys are!

Don't stay away though. You can also learn about cheap mods here too! I was all set to start bolting on mod parts before I read how certain tuning tricks can get you extra power. Proper jetting, recurving the dist and a cam will benefit me the most. Not only that, but Matt Gruber had a thread going on how to run lower octane gas without causing detonation or retarding the poop out of your timing. That alone will SAVE you money! :yesnod:

Jay - If you ordered the Keisler TKO, I'm right there with ya.

Post when you get yours and start the install: I'll do the same.
