Has anyone who is running a TPI system come up with a way to place the air filter in the path of cool air? Right now the air filter is turned 90 degrees down behind the radiator. Since installing a Ron Davis radiator there is a 3" gap between the radiator top and the radiator bracket. With some alteration to the bracket, I can imagine an intake duct similar to the aftermarket C-5 fitting. Has anyone tried a similar system? Do you have a better idea?
yes 70ls1 and i have both done it on ours.look at my website for pictures, ill post some in a sec.what i did was cut the rad support and lowered the center down a few inch or so then welded it back up used a 200 c5 air bridge and connected it to a 90 degree pipe into a votrex air filter from a c5 which is right behind the grille,im gone to add a t instead and use 2 vortex filters one behind each grille. Also gene- mrvette has a unique setup he made that works rather well too, hell chime in im sure.
I can't say I really planned on my cowl induction all that clearly, but when shopping for a BB hood for the car up at Carlysle Pa. vette show back in '97, this hood was about the most likely candidate, it's a graft on aftermarket riser/scoop on a stock hood...so that makes the unit suitable to my little aluminum box I fabbed up to fit under/around the K/N oval air filter, and mate with rubber gaskets to the hood, more or less....making a air path....
