Well here is the story i have a 1979 corvette with a 454. It is going to be a gas hog so i need to get another car to drive. I dont want one of those ricers with the wings and mufflers that sound dumb. but i want a nice daily driver. I like the 2002 Trans Ams with the ram air hood but they cost $20,000-30,000 for a nice one. I also would like to get a new Dodge Neon SRT-4 those are closer to my price range 19,000 new. Or what kind of car would you sugest a 16 year old kid get?Or an old rust bucket they when some one wants to race get out the vette? haha  Thanks Guys

Re: What to choose? (cruea79454)
Go for the SRT-4. They are pretty damn fast and there will be tons of option parts coming out.
Insurance will suck but won't be near as bad as the insurance on a T/A.
Besides, you will have enough money left from the price of the car to pay for gas for the Vette.
I find the best cars for daily drivers are just cheap beaters that cost a thousand or two. Look for an older cheap Japanese import, like a Honda Civic, Accord, or a Toyota Camry. Those simple little cars run forever and often be had with just a little over 100k for cheap money. They've only used up at the most half of their life at that point. Sure they don't look nice, but when you want to look nice, you drive the Corvette. It always seems like the most feasible route, plus it saves you a lot of money to put towards the Corvette.
Yes i like the neons i was reading about them today the have 215 rwhp and 245 ft. lb of tork and run 14.2 in the 1/4 so ya they are kinda quick. thanks guys i might go with the beater for a while till i get the vette running good and looking good it need some paint. The person i bought it from said it was 2000 cadilac candy apple red well they never made such a color. and i hurd napa has a machine that u point a gun at the car and it tells the computer what color it is and mixes the paint. sounds cool i am going tomrow to see how it works i took of the gas cap door since the car dosnt run yet..
well anyways went to napa and got paint the gun didnt work didnt tell me thw paint code. when throught the book found a color that looked exact came home put some on a chip and the color is orange well i got screwed out of like $50 so i guess if i am going to get a paint job i will have to save up $6,000 to get a good one..
I would go with the older Honda. I'm on my third between me and my wife. They run for ever, with low maintenance. Its also go incentive work had on the vette, so resurect some of your manhood, as well as it accentuates the feeling of driving a special vehicle like a vette..Going from a T/A, or as I told my buddy that had one, a wannabe vette, to the vette would not be as appreciable contrast. LOL Pat :D
we have a 97 Prizm with 110k on it and it runs flawlessly. It's actually a Corolla with some bowties on it. Comfortable car with good mpg. We put in our own sound system so it's a little more fun to ride in. Some weeks when I want to save some money to spend on Vette stuff, I'll take the Prizm to work and save $ on gas.
