Well, I fianlly got around to getting my web page updated with the TKO install information - this is the same information that wazs recently published in my club newsletter.
Thanks to all that chimed in with information for me prior to installing this guy. its easily the best thing I've done to the car - next to the paint job. http://earchitect.50megs.com/corvette/gearedup.htm
If you thought that 2.43 1st gear was bad...older M21's came with a 2.20 1st. No wonder they wouldn't let you buy one with a rear gear higher than a 3.70. :steering:
Awesome page Eric! I have added it to Corvettefaq if you don't mind. :) So the engine is the next project, eh? :)

Corvette FAQ - absolutely - yes the engine is next - the first episode (article has been written, I have to get my rings ordered before I can finish the second installment (installation of the reciprocating assy) - I also have to get my Bore gauges back too so I can verify the machine shops work.
Couple of other tools I need....
anyone want to loan me a ring filer and a rod bolt stretch gauge??? :D
very nice website. so what do you figure your tops speed is compared to before??
In all honesty I dont know. The congested state of southern California Freeways kinda makes it hard to test  If the magazines were correct my L-82 4 spd had a top end of about 130, If I were to guess - I would say somewhere around 145-150 - but that is just a wild guess, running my unmodified L-82
I was thinking of bringing the shifter straight up out of the console as well. That is.......once I get the car back together. I was wondering if bringing the shifter up through the center might cause you to have to lean more to the right while shifting verses the stock location. What are your thoughts on the new position verses the old?

Withe the short throw shifter - reaching it is easier than with my hurst shifter before - teh hurst had a much longer thrown placing third gear easily as far away as 5th is now - I have no problems with it. I am 6' tall (without gorrilla arms) :p:
Its really about the look - to be prefectly honest I looked at spacing the shifter over but the aftermarket shifter I have would probably not have liked it - the steel - shift stop ring is much larger than the factory shifter and there would have been intereferance with it - if I spaced the shifter arm over 2" or so.
Therefore I opted not to.
As for - mathmatical calcs for my top speed - I didnt bother with that - while I am sure mathematically I am good to 190 to 200........ since air resistance is exponential - I have no doubt that the math calcs would only be true if driving in a vacuum.
