I tried taking pictures, but they just aren't turning out. Halfway down my passenger window on the outside, there are some horizontal scratches on the glass. You can kind of see them in the picture supplied below. They look alot worse than that. Has anyone experienced this, and what have they done to resolve the scratching. This is the second piece of glass I've had in the car. Thanks in advance!
Re: What is causing my windows to scratch? (dukvet76)
Dukvet76, I have an 81' but have several resource books..will check what is possible in that area and get back to this post. I know there are padded guides on some of the bracketry down there..maybe that particular area..is bald and wearing unusually hard on the glass, as it is coming down to seat into place. Will check in my books..hope someone else with closer year model will chime in and give us a hand to help you figure this out. Good Luck!
Re: What is causing my windows to scratch? (dukvet76)
If a bigger kernal of sand, especially here in Florida, gets embedded in either the outside or inside whisker, it will definately scratch the glass. I bought new ones and they had dirt in them I didn't see, which immediately scratched the driver's side window big enough to catch your thumbnail in. Just make an effort to keep them clean.

I think you mean vertical scratches. There are some fuzzy window guides. When the fuzz wears off or gets embedded with sand or other gritty stuff it scratches the glass every time you put the windows up / down. You can recover the guides with the fuzzy side of velcro - but use a good epoxy to adhere it. There have been posts on the NCRS board by Terry McManmon a few years ago (2000 maybe?) where he described how he removed some scratches with a lot of buffing and patience with the glass removed from his '70. :) If it's any consolation, you're not alone with those scratches. ~Juliet
