Just wanted to give Lars a big thank you  I just got my Q-jet back from a Lars rebuild and my car has never run better. He did a great job, the thing is running much stronger than before, especially in the upper RPMs. Just thought I'd give him some praise.
Well no time for talking, I'm off to the hills for a run. Time to smoke some tires :auto:

Hope you don't mind Black 69, but I totally forgot to post the results of a little miracle Lars performed on my distributor a couple of weeks ago. Lars had worked on my dist last year when he came down for the Louisiana beer and tuning tour. He had put in a couple of shims, cleaned it up, and changed the springs. But he didn't have the tooling, time, and supplys to totally revitalize my dist. It ran noticeably better and weeks later I ran my best ET of 13.2. Then, after I pulled the dist again to try a new vac advance, it developed a horrible miss at 3000 rpm and up. Lars advised to send the dist to him so he could really go through the whole thing and switch the distrib back to points as it had a pointless pickup installed by a previous owner. I WAS VERY RELUCTANT. I didn't like the idea of going back to "old" technology and switching to something some might say is more troublesome. Well I fought with my 71 ALL WINTER. I replaced the carb(for more reasons than one), cap, rotor, plugs, coil, even sent my MSD box off to MSD for a checkup. Nothing made any difference at all, but all these things needed to either be changed or checked. So I gave in and sent the distrb to Lars. His workmanship is like no other, this old distrib looks like brand new. And that pointless pickup was CRAP and was causing the problem I was having. That miss at 3000 rpm and up is long gone, He was right. I am trying to learn as much as I can from Lars, because the knowledge he has can't be measured in volumes.
:iagree: Lars layed hands on my distributor and supplied me with a great carb set-up for my 327/350hp. I was having some fuel delivery issues that
Lars was very helpful on when answering my emails. It turned out to be a defective fuel pump. It has taken three fuel pumps before I finally got a good one!

Great to hear that the carb is running well for you! I had a lot of fun running the heck out of it on the test car, so I figured it would probably run pretty good for you. Hope you have fun with it!

As you know, I have never been an advocate for the aftermarket pointless systems, and I know you were reluctant to switch back to an "old" set of points. But as you can see, the points really do work well once set up correctly. Glad to hear you got the car dialed in and running well. It would be fun to get a 1/4-mile time on it now to see if it's any quicker.
By the way, when I was down in the New Orleans area for a Tuning for Beer Tour, Joey showed up with a pickup truck towing his Vette on a Trailer. In the back of the truck was a TruckBox full width tool box. The TruckBox was full of ice and beer... Joey definitely knows how to show up for a Tuning evening...!
