Has anyone had experience with the door switch in the driver's side door? In the wifes 79 the switch is gone. The body shop guy told me that while they were wet sanding the alarm went off. They looked in the door and found two wires at the bottom of the door laying in the water when they removed them dried them off the alarm stopped. Today I'm going to go by there and check out the lock cylinder and the wires. Sounds like someone replaced the lock cylinder with one that fit and cut the wires off the old switch. The dealier told me the switch has been discontinued the, lock cylinder is still avilible. I was wondering if anyone else has had to replace the switch and what did you run into?
Update: Now with more questions than answers: The wafer switch behind the lock cylinder needs be replaced some Bubba cut off the wires. Those were the ones laying in the bottom of the door. The lock cylinder retainer has been replaced with one without a switch. The cylinder clip in the assembly manual shows a switch. Does anyone know where I might get a new one? I did order a new wafer switch at least I think I did cause they don't show pictures in the C.C. catalog. But I haven't found the switch show in the assembly manual on the cylinder retainer clip.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Bob
I saw in the ecklers catalogue anit-theft switch for a 79. I have taken mine off when I replaced the lock, hardest thing is trying to reach inside the door.
