Drivers side silver, passenger side orange :D
Seriously, I would try the black wrinkle. If not that, then orange...

Mike

I say orange.

Silver covers on silver heads looks a little clutered to me.

By that's just me. :D

Wow, I didn't think it would be this close. I checked out the other post by Obdoc and his setup looks great. I still don't want to sink $$ into chrome or aluminum covers. I have the LT-1 covers on my SB now and they take some work to keep clean and shiny.

Hmmm...black crinkle?? I may hit the junk yards in search of another set of covers to practice on. I like the hi-gloss of the orange. I think it'll give me the look I want along with the ease of cleaning. Plus I won't get too upset if I drop a rachet on 'em. There's just something about those huge orange BB valve covers. Plus they have that sort-of "utilitarian" look to them.

Wish I could comment on everyone's input....let me just say thanks to all. :yesnod:

The silver is pretty but I like the contrast of the orange better. Besides, after a race you can pop the hood and say "see, it's stock" :)

Len - If you want to see a lot of pictures of BBs with orange covers on them, check out the C2 section with a search since the 65-66 BBs came with Chevy orange covers from the factory. :chevy

The orange looks great, original, and provides a nice contrast with the intake. The silver looks surprisingly good, but blends in with the intake - a neat effect, but I prefer contrast. Plus, you will forever be answering the question, "Hey, shouldnt those valve covers be chrome, not silver?" :) MJ
:iagree: The orange adds greater visual impact.

I don't think the poly locks you need to lock the rockers will fit under those valve covers will they ?

Don't know. The poly locks weren't on the original parts list.

Orange, it'll be a nice contrast from your exterior color scheme as well. Pat

You don't have the option so I won't vote but I'd go with black. Orange just reminds me of a clown for some reason, and there's no contrast between the silver and the intake manifold. Black is just BADAZZZZ. :D

Better yet, paint the block black while you're at it. I have a 383 with a black block, unpainted aluminum heads, silver intake manifold with black L82 style (with silver fins) valve covers and it looks COOL  Of course, you can't have the L82 covers, but it would still look cool.

I voted orange, but where is the fabricated valve cover option?
