Re: I feel ridiculous asking this(ZR-1 Mark)MY RANT
Since my earlier posts I have been wondering several things. If there as many of us believe a lot of "repoduction documents" out there why hasn't the General been leading the info. rush and trying to turn a buck? It seems like it take them forever to recoginze an oppurtunity and capitalize on it. Ford beat them twice with the Rustang(in the 60's & the 90's), Dodge beat them with the Mini Van and the Viper Prowler and the PT Cruiser. Heck several of the Corvette projects almost were never built except for the devotion of special black hole gangs that developed them behind the backs of the poopie head bean counters. They have only in the past several years realized the what could be had in the area of restoration parts. I'm sure someone will say they build cars not sell information. But as Rush says Barbra Strisand it is a no brainer, take something you already own and sell it again. AND for God sakes turn the market loose on discontinued parts, license them and let someone make it. An example is the the dash defroster vent in our 79. No one has them new and all the ones in the used market are as warpped as the one I have. GM should have a program of discontinuance(yeah it's probably not a word) But if GM advertised to the after market trade items that there were intending to discontinue and who the supplier was they could cut themselves in for a cut on each sold and not have to touch the part or handle the paper on it. They could sit back and collect the dough. Hello General are you listening???????????????? Sorry guys it was my turn to RANT. To one an all it's going to be a beautiful weekend in the Midwest enjoy those Vettes and "Save the Wave"
Re: I feel ridiculous asking this ................. (Glutamine83)
what if your car was sold in canada, can you find a history somewhere?
For cars destined for sale in Canada, you can call GM Vintage and get some good info about your specific car as well as info about all 'Vetes or your year...
The # is 1.888.467.6853 during business hours eastern time...
Have your credit card handy, as this is not free, I think they charge about CND$50 for the package...

Good point but seem to recall that car makers would rather have you purchase a brand new car than just a litle 'ole defroster vent... Some cynical white-coller accountant type at GM shakes his head every day at all us drivers that keep these 30-year old cars keep running.
