same concern as i posted on someone elses thread about 5 (and 6) speed trannies. with this kit, will 5th be a 1:1? or are both 5 & 6 OD gears? i don't know about everyone else because R&P changes are like one of the first mods people do, but i still have some serious 'economy' gears and don't really feel the need for much OD at all.

Obviously there are different ratios available but we own a 95 Camaro Z28 with the T 56.
5th gear is .7:1 and 6th is .5:1.0.
After installing a set of 4.10 gears the car takes off like a shot and cruises along at 2000rpm at 70mph in 6th.
Truely the best of both worlds. I'd love to put one in my 79 corvette.
Don't worry about strength either. They put these transmissions in Vipers too.
If they can handle the awesome V10 it can handle your small block. :jester
:iagree: I'd love to put a 6 speed in my '74. I've got similar questions to everyone else, what kind of HP/Torque can this handle and what is the bottom line?
Not that simple. The Vipers' T56 has larger output shaft and heavy duty gearset. So we need to know what setup this guys offering...a standard T56 modified to fit our Vettes or a modified T56 (ie viper parts).

I would only be interested if it had a 1:1 for 4th or 5th and then the rest were overdrive. I have 3.73's and short tires, last thing I need is some super low 1-2 gears.
Based on their updated website, the new 6 spd T56 carries the same rating as the 5 spd TKO which is 425 ftlbs whereas the TKOII 5 spd is rated at over 600 ftlbs. 1st is under 3.0, 4th is 1:1 and 5th and 6th are .8 and .6 ODs respectively. I'll stick with the heavier duty TKOII I've got on order. :D
