I want to replace stock stereo with a new AM/FM/CD player, does anybody know what installation kit I will need to make it look flush and neat??
I am little hesitant to start cutting into the console........ :skep:
Cut away! No kit needed. The bezel is plastic and cuts easily. If you have regrets later, a replacement is available (but I've never heard anyone actually having regrets). And best of all -- a decent looking CD player looks right at home in the late model C3s :yesnod:
I replaced my stereo a few years back in my 81 and didn't want to cut so found a new AM/FM/Cassette receiver that had the old two **** style (Kenwood KRC-2007, if they still make it). Then i added a FM module 6 disc CD changer. Also, this unit has hook-ups for an amp.
Take her to a good local install shop and they can make a nice din-sized hole in the console and install the cd player nice and easy (i didn't have the heart to cut).. and there are replacement consoles available from midamerica (among others)... woodgrain's and carbon fibers... might be easier to order a replacement, cut the hole in the replacement and put that in, make sure the hole is perfect. A local audio shop did mine in a little over an hour. CD player looks good, good luck.
