I am having problems with my q-jet on my 454. It floods everytime I run it. After it gets warmed-up, the car will stall; I will take the air filter off and I can see fuel purculating in the primaries, fuel coming out of the power pistion, and sometimes fuel comming out between the gasket (I think) and puddling on the intake (very scary, and yes I carry a fire extingusiher). I tried rebuilding the carb, different float levels, and replaced the rubber fuel line with the correct steel line, new carb. filter. These all had no effect. I also took the carb to the local "expert", he did the JB Weld thing (for precaution) but didn't really find anything wrong.
Your thoughts are welcome, thanks.
Do you have Lars paper on Q-jets. I believe it is on the forum in the tech section. Lars and his paper have helped me tremendously. I am taking a guess the problem may be with you accelorator pump on the carb

Re: q-jet flooding ??? (clem zahrobsky)
Clem is absolutely right - this is a big cause of the needle getting hung up and jammed in the seat. Make sure the wire clip slips around the rear edge of the float arm and that it does not go through the holes.
DO NOT install the little wire hook on the needle thru the holes in the float arm as this is a big cause of flooding. also the problem with older Q jets is that the plating has come off of the area of the fuel filter and the zink is exposed and little pieces keep coming off and getting into the needle and seat causing flooding. the cure for this is a piece of very fine screen wire soldered to the input side of the needle seat. :chevy
