Torque Spec for Diff Cover Bolts?
Hey Guys,
My service manual is AWOL and I need the torque specs for the rear cover bolts (to the housing). It's a 72 rear with a newer style HD cover.
Anyone got the #s handy?

thats not really a torque critical place. It simply has to be tight enough to compress the gasket, but not so tight that it cuts the gasket.
Transmission pans, valve cover gaskets, rear diff covers; things like that should all just be as tight as you can get it with a nut driver.

My 72 manual says 50 ft/lbs also. Never torque anything with an impact wrench. Most are capable of 150 ft/lbs or more. Many a broken bolt with an impact. Great for removing but use a torque wrench for installing.
